About us

United Way Yukon is borne of the idea that we can do more together than apart. Even with the strong history of individualism found in the Yukon, with our isolation and size we all seem to understand the truth in collective action.

Since 1995 United Way Yukon has been raising money to support local charities and our success speaks to this belief in working together.

Over the past twenty five years we have raised over two and a half million dollars for local charities. Our funding is focused on supporting programs which provide assistance to Yukon children, youth and families; respond to the needs of people living with disabilities; address alcohol and drug abuse; and seek to reduce the adverse effects of poverty.

While the United Way is a national organization, United Way Yukon is community based in its truest sense. We are a legally constituted and incorporated registered charitable organization that operates autonomously and is governed by a local volunteer board of directors. Each October or fundraising campaign reaches out to local employers, employees and the community at large to combine efforts toward a common goal of providing funds to worthy local charities. Annually, we raise between $150,000 – $170,000 and virtually all of this goes directly charities within months of the campaign conclusion.

Your donation to the United Way is an effective way to support Yukon communities. We strive to maintain low administrative costs to ensure that almost every dollar donated is used to fund local charities.
