Accountability and financial reporting

The Board of United Way Yukon is responsible for ensuring the organization meets all of the accountability requirements established by Canada Revenue Agency. The annual budget is monitored by the Board to carefully restrict growth of expenses and to ensure maximum efficiency.

United Way Yukon makes every effort to keep expenses as low as possible by maintaining a strong internal-fundraising department, by strategically leveraging our workplace volunteers and by taking advantage of donated services and support. We also work with other United Ways in Canada to share best practices with the goal of ensuring expenses continue to be maintained.

Our administrative and fundraising costs are below the 35 per cent cost-revenue ratio recommended by the Canada Revenue Agency, which means a bigger impact for your every dollar. United Way Yukon also adheres to the Donor Bill of Rights.

United Way Yukon relies on strategic planning to guide its decisions and actions. The UWY Strategic Plan 2020 sets out how we intend to be the best that we can be so we can help our Yukon family effectively and wisely for many years to come.

For more detailed information about United Way’s accountability, please consult our current financial statements.
